چکیده

Objective: Since the introduction of percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL), many changes have been added regarding the entrance to pyelocalyceal system such as insertion of the needle pointed to an opaque stone as a guided landmark. We aim at comparing the outcomes of managing renal calculi with and without retrograde pyelography. Materials and Methods: In a randomized clinical trial, 55 cases with opaque renal calculi candidates for PCNL with stone in one calyce, in the pelvis or both in one calyce and the pelvis simultaneously were included in a nine-month study. They were randomized into 2 groups, noncatheterized (n = 28) and catheterized (n = 27), called intervention and control groups,

Re: Percutaneous nephrolithotomy with and without retrograde pyelography: a randomized clinical trial.

St. Mark’s electrode used in the study has the distance between the stimuli and recording sites known in a region of difficult access for measuring. This would become the method more standardized and appropriate for pelvic floor, besides probably causing less discomfort than the transmuscular perineal route. These alternative methods for PNTML assessment might be useful in routine practice, mai...

Laparoscopic - assisted percutaneous nephrolithotomy as an alternative in the treatment of complex renal calculi in patients with retrorenal colon.

We reviewed our prospective database of PNL in the last 5 years and identified all cases that underwent to LA-PNL. The option for choosing LA-PNL was made by the surgeon on the preoperative consultation based on the colon position on the CT scan. A 3-port laparoscopy was done for colon retrieval. Then, a percutaneous access guided by retrograde pyelography was performed, with direct visualizati...

Successful Endourologic Management of Lower Pole Moiety Ureteropelvic Junction Obstruction in a Partially Duplicated Collecting System

We present two cases of symptomatic lower pole moiety ureteropelvic junction obstruction (UPJO) in a partially duplicated collecting system that were successfully treated with minimally invasive endourologic procedures. In the first case, we performed retrograde endopyelotomy with the Acucise(R) ureteral cutting balloon device, and in the latter case, we performed percutaneous nephrolithotomy a...

Ureteroscopy-Assisted Retrograde Nephrostomy for Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy after Urinary Diversion

A 33-year-old male with an ileal conduit was referred to our department for the treatment of left renal calculi. After inserting a ureteral access sheath, a ureteroscopy-assisted retrograde nephrostomy was made. Percutaneous nephrolithotomy was successfully achieved using this nephrostomy.
